St. Joseph Social Justice Committee

The Social Justice Committee at St. Joseph Parish in Elkader exists to serve the needs of local residents in time of need.  Passersby in need of assistance are also welcome to call upon the parish should they need a small amount gasoline or food.  Please call the Parish Center at 563-245-2548 if you help with a utility bill, rent, transportation, or groceries.

Social Justice Committee Calendar

The Social Justice Committee also holds collections throughout the year to directly and indirectly benefit those living in and around Elkader.  Hopefully by posting this calendar, you can plan to shop for discounts and budget your giving to help children and families in our area!

• 1st Saturday of each month - collection of food; proceeds go to Clayton County Food Shelf
• 3rd Saturday of each month- loose change from Mass collection goes to Pay-It-Forward fund
• Souperbowl Sunday - soup can collection; same weekend as Superbowl
• March - cash collection to purchase Easter hams
• May - summer snack collection
• July - school supplies, underwear, sock collection
• September - hats, mittens, scarves, and glove collection
• October - spud fund for Thanksgiving
• November - giving tree setup in St. Joseph Church for Christmas gifts; gifts go to Shepherd of the Hills Christmas Giveaway
